Planning Sustainable Cities and Regions

As global warming advances, regions around the world are engaging in revolutionary sustainability planning – but with social equity as an afterthought. Chapple’s recent book, Planning Sustainable Cities and Regions: Towards More Equitable Development (Routledge, September 2014), overturns conventional ideas about how to build more livable places and vibrant economies that offer opportunity to all.

Chapple has also conducted research on local economic development and sustainable regional planning on behalf of the Inter-American Development Bank. Her project in the Lurin River Basin of Peru highlights the region’s recent successes and failures in sustainable economic development and provides recommendations for a more prosperous and equitable future for the region.
